Protect. Preserve. Restore.

Welcome

The mission of Falmouth Water Stewards (FWS) is to protect, preserve, and restore Falmouth’s bays, estuaries, salt ponds, and fresh waters through education, advocacy, and citizen science.

FWS is a science-based advocacy and education organization—and the only group solely dedicated to protecting and restoring Falmouth’s precious freshwater and coastal waters. Through public education on today’s most pressing water-quality issues, engaging residents as active stewards of our waterways, and serving as a trusted voice at Town Meeting, FWS plays a vital role in safeguarding our local environment.

Guided by a diverse board of scientists, policymakers, educators, and concerned citizens, and strengthened by a broad grassroots membership, FWS has earned a strong reputation for leadership in preserving Falmouth’s water resources.

Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage

FWS partners with Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage (OLAUG) to raise awareness about keeping ponds clean and free of trash and debris.

With more miles of coastline than any other town in Massachusetts, abundant fresh and salt water ponds, streams and rivers, and the only surface groundwater aquifer on the Cape, water is the social, environmental and economic lifeblood of Falmouth.
